Hi Everyone!!!
As many of you are already aware, Kim Fiske, CAP Artistic Director, moved to Tennessee over the summer. We are very sad to see her go, but wish her all the best in her new endeavors.
The CAP Board of Directors has met and we are excited to present Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella as our next show, with community performance dates January 30 - February 7, 2009. We will also have three days of school shows, January 29 and February 3 & 4.
Originally presented on television in 1957, it starred Julie Andrews; then Lesley Ann Warren was Cinderella in 1965. Singer Brandy, played Cinderella in 1997 with Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. All three versions of Cinderella were taken from the Rodgers & Hammerstein version, so ours will parallel these more than the Disney movie.
We will hold auditions for several principal roles. They are:
Cinderella high school female
Prince high school male
King adult male
Queen adult female
Stepmother adult female
Portia middle/high school female
Joy middle/high school female
Godmother high school and up female
Herald middle school and up male
Chef middle school and up male or female
Steward middle school and up male or female
Coachman middle school and up male or female
Footman middle school and up male or female
Guards middle school and up male or female
Minister middle school and up male
There will be several all cast scenes including a fun “fitting the slipper” scene where all the girls are vying to take home the slipper and therefore, the prince.
Kindergarteners are welcome in this show, however all kindergarteners MUST have a parent IN the show! 1st & 2nd graders will have the same requirement as before; parents must be heavily committed to be in the black box when we move into the PAC, or be in the show.
We will start with a mandatory cast/parent meeting and registration on Tuesday October 28th starting at 7pm....and Saturday November 1st at 10am. You will only need to come once. Don’t forget your home, school and sports calendars through February 7th so you can fill out your conflict calendar. Also on Sat. the 1st we will have auditions. Registration for this show is $75 with some possible costume fees additional. (We always say this "just in case"....) We have a few scholarships available.
Auditions will be held on Saturday November 1st after registration: Females Noon - 2pm & Males 2:30 - 4:30. Please come prepared with a song of your choice. Also understand that you must commit to school shows in order to be considered for a principal role.
Ensemble rehearsals will start on Sat. November 8!!!! We have a more limited time frame to rehearse so attendance will be more strictly enforced....we are on a very tight schedule so we will need everyone’s best effort. We will have ensemble rehearsals on Saturdays until two weeks prior to opening. Everyone will come from 2-4pm, but we may change/expand this time frame if needed.
Principals (leads) will start rehearsal as soon as we have a cast list and will be scheduled Tues. Thurs and Sat. We will adjust as we need to…if we need more time.
Again, the two weeks prior to opening will be 100% mandatory.
Please ask if you have any questions.
We are excited to see you all again!
Jody Hanna
CAP Artistic Director
